After School

Our afterschool programs are designed to fill the gap between the end of a child's school day and the end of a parent's or caretaker's work day.

Children feeling lonely or bored during out-of-school hours may engage in unproductive destructive or negative behaviors. Camp Fire Afterschool gives children a safe alternative to potentially risky activity - but the kids just think it's fun!

The afterschool program begins each day with an academic component where youth work on reading and math, and get help with homework. Afterwards, kids participate in a variety of activities, such as dance, art, poetry, recreation, music, drama, service-learning and field trips. Opportunities may vary by site but are similar in nature.

Camp Fire West Michigan 4C will manage 6 afterschool programs during the 2018-19 school year. All of these programs are part of The Loop Program, an afterschool initiative within Grand Rapids Public Schools.
